The "Sleeve" - What is it?

More people are asking about this surgery as an alternative to the more traditional Roux-en-Y surgery. Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy or "Vertical Sleeve" is a restrictive procedure that reduces the size of the stomach by up to 75%.  Patients lose about the same percentage of excess body weight as Roux-en-Y patients do at 2 years post-op (60%-70% of excess body weight).  There is no long-term data presently available on this procedure.
